It's June 29th, hello everyone! 👋
Come on in and take a seat in our virtual meeting room. 👐
I'm the secretary Bianca. Once again 👋I'll be subbing for the class today. In the past meeting, the Guild Master mentioned some topics in the previous meeting and I'll just be retouching it, I encourage you to scroll down and revisit the July 8th post if you haven't already seen it.
1. The deadline for the poetry slam is Thursday, September 1, 2020 👀, *The date has been extended! So feel free to add your submissions in. All you have to do is record a video of yourself reciting your poem, upload the video to a google share drive and send it to referencerequest@ctcd.edu
2. Suggestions for writing activities are always welcomed.
3. If you hold a position please let the Guild Master know if you still hold interest in holding it or if you can no longer due to graduation.
*as for me I don't mind filling this position until someone that wants to takes it. Should I post separately explaining all the positions available?
4. When is it safe to meet up again?
🙌
Here are some activities for today. Aside from discussing what's up above...
1. If you were an animal, what kind of animal would you be?
Please pick an animal most suited to yourself, not one that you like and explain why. If it wasn't already obvious this is my attempt to get you all to talk about yourselves because we have a NEW new member! Once again welcome Ashley Marie!👏👏👏 I've never met you in any of the meetings before unlike Antwion so yeah, hi. (Hello to you too if you're somewhere out there Antwion, the guild master and Ms. Cindy 👋)
2. Write a brief journal entry from the perspective of that animal.😸
I don't mean to get all teacher-y on yah but well, I am a sub for today. So... please just have fun with this. I'm not expecting a short story or anything just a paragraph.
Hi Bianca,
ReplyDeleteThanks for getting the meeting ready. We just decided today to extend the Poetry Slam entry deadline till Sept 1 to get more videos. I'll post a flyer on here after the meeting.
Hopefully at noon, we'll get some of our members to join in the activity. It looks like fun! I can't wait till noon to get started. :-)

ReplyDeleteOh, I think so. Are you able to edit your original post to change the date to Sept 1? I know we can't change comments, but you may be able to change your original post.
ReplyDeleteI changed it.
ReplyDeleteOh I just read my mail and saw that you shared a new flyer! It looks gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOh wait I recognize this template from microsoft lol, it still looks cool.
ReplyDeleteYou caught me. I used a template this time. :-)
ReplyDeleteI wish there was a way to tell who's logged in like on a forum. Are you also in Discord right now? Can you publish the link for Discord in case anyone wants to chat there too?
ReplyDeleteLook guys! We have a Writer's Guild page under clubs https://www.ctcd.edu/locations/central-campus/student-life-activities/clubs-organizations/writers-club/
ReplyDeleteWe're officially changed over.
ReplyDeleteAlright, I just sent another one out.
ReplyDeleteI was just in Discord and it says Naomi is playing D&D. Did we catch her playing hookey? :-) Just kidding. She probably left it on when whe went to her appointment. That's why she can't be here today.
ReplyDeleteThe timing is all wrong on each post. We must be in Pacific time? Isn't that 2 hours behind us?
ReplyDeleteOh, just saw the page. Looks nice. For slams, I'm assuming none were received?
ReplyDeleteWe have 2 poems so far. But we need more to have a real competion.
DeleteI'll see if I can fix it.
ReplyDeleteYup. (in response to pacific times quesstion)
ReplyDeleteSeems 1 hour behind now.
ReplyDeleteNow it's right. Whoot whoot!
ReplyDeleteThere was like 40 different time zones in which to choose! There was Central Standard Time and Central Time and I had to choose between North Dakota or Belize! Very odd. That's what took so long.
ReplyDeleteIt didn't take that long though. So which one is our correct timezone?
ReplyDeleteI really like your activity today. Well, I like all of them you guys have come up with before. At noon, I guess just get started on your meeting and activities. Or maybe wait a couple of minutes in case our new member has trouble getting familiar with the format.
ReplyDeleteI chose North Dakota which didn't seem like it would right, but it was the right time, so I left it. We can just make believe we're in North Dakota. I bet it's cooler there.
ReplyDeleteQuestion. If you're not a member and not logged in, can you still see comments? I never tried it.
ReplyDeleteLol, okay, cool.
ReplyDeleteI know you can see posts.
ReplyDeleteJust have to refresh 100x, but they show up.
ReplyDeleteHuh? It shows for me still(signed out to check)
ReplyDeleteYup.
ReplyDeleteThat's good. Where do you want us to start writing the activity? Like do you want to put the activity assignment and then we just keep replying to take post?
ReplyDeleteI meant to that post. Not being able to edit comments sure creates a need to slow down in typing.
DeleteWell since it's five minutes past the mark, I guess i get started. So... did anyone contact you guys who had filled in positions? Also for the poetry slams, you didn't receive any did you?
ReplyDeleteWe have 2 poems, so we're getting them slowly. I figured if we pushed back the date till the fall semester, we'd get more people to see it. And no, I haven't heard anything from our other officers. But maybe when the fall semester starts, we'll get more interest. We just have to keep pushing it.
DeleteDid you mean putting the activity assignment in a separate thread? yeah, guess I'll do that. Un momento por favor.
ReplyDeleteWe can just keep it on this thread, but maybe put the assignment down here, so we don't have to keep scrolling up? Or a separate one is fine also.
DeleteAh, I just saw you responded for the slams question plz ignore below then.
ReplyDeleteThe joys of blogging. Slow and disjointed. But hey, we're writers, so it's a good format for the writing activities.
DeleteI made a separate posts for the activities! Going to start there on mine first. :D
