Good Afternoon, everyone! 💁
It's me your secretary, Bianca :#
What are you all eating for lunch today?
It's about that time so feel free to sit down and get your munch-on during today's chat.
In the last meeting, we mentioned cheating on Nanowrimo(short for National Novel Writing Month- which is November, by continuing stories we were already working on.
If possible if you guys are taking any extra classes right now, please let us know. Or if you aren't interested in the Nanowrimo writing on the weekends that's fine too.
By this time some of you are probably already taking your final exams online. When will you be free? I just wanted to say I'm free as I already took mine and have nothing to do.
What are your personal goals for the rest of this year?
Also it was just a thought before, but next year perhaps if this club is still open how great would it be if we had a short story writing contest that was horror themed? (These are just ideas)
Or publishing a book, with a collection of the member's short stories?
I'm sorry, these days I've been having materialistic thoughts such as those. I've had nothing but moolah on my mind. I've sinned. 🙏
Also Cindy had something to share about a fundraiser? I'll let her take it from there.
Edit:
In the end we decided with the option to create a little 4 by 6 or 5 by 7 poetry poetry piece. Draw a doodle within the four by six template or five by seven and sell it on the library blog to raise funds for the Library's lending closet and... possibly ourselves? As we need permission for this first, I'll update this post later on as to how things turned out.
Hi Bianca,
ReplyDeleteThose are some great ideas! I finally finished my Anthropology course, but have an upcoming 8 week course starting in Oct. But I'm good on anytime anyone wants to get together for writing. I was thinking, and it's up to you guys. We could either just turn on Discord while we write so we can hear each other talk, or I can still set up WebEx, so we can meet face to face (virtually) to get started on a writing session. Let me know, guys.
The fundraiser..........our library has a lending closet. Students can come to the library and check out professional clothing to wear at interviews or to start a new job. These are donated very great shape professional clothing.
Before the pandemic, we had a cleaners dry cleaning for free. Due to a dip in the economy, they are struggling to even keep their doors open. So for now, we suspended dry cleaning until we can find a way to pay them at least a little. If you guys thought that this would be a worthwhile cause, we can maybe talk about ways to raise money virtually.
One way that groups I've sponsored in the past raised money was called Pennies for..... you basically ask people to look in their penny jars and estimate the amount of money they have in pennies. Then they write a check out for either the full amount or half the amount. We've raised anywhere from 70.00 to 200.00 and that will pay for another batch of dry cleaning.
Anyway, that's a suggestion. You guys maybe think about it and come up with some ideas.
btw..........hi everybody! :-) I'll get into Discord as well to see if anyone is there.
We could either use discord. I don't think I'll look much at the camera while writing lol but yeah, we can try web ex.
DeleteIf everyone wants to try WebEx, I can send out an invite, so you can see how it works. It's basically Zoom.
Deletebtw, using our past stories isn't cheating. :-) This is a personal challenge thing.
DeleteWe'll still be open for business even in the spring. :-)
DeleteJust saw your "if we're open." Us writers aren't going anywhere.
send meh an invite
DeleteWill do right now. It will be from Virtual librarian
DeleteYou're going to have to download Webex to get in, but I just sent you the invitation.
Deletebtw........having salad for lunch. :-)
ReplyDeleteAlso, if anyone plans to vote early, I waited in line for 5 hours yesterday, so bring water, snack, and possibly a chair. But it's worth it!
Omigosh lending clothes? That's something I've always worried about! I don't have any interviews or office jobs at the moment though unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteIt's great that you've already raised money. I'm broke after buying a laptop. Only have 83 cents. Has the dry cleaner's considered a go fund me?
Members could post on their social media to possibly get more people to donate.
*club members*
DeleteI don't think we can do things like GoFundMe. And that other money raised was when I ran other groups. Wait a minute. I think our club does have a budget now that I think about it. But we would still have to come up with something that we could do and designate it for the clothes closet funds. We wouldn't be raising money for the cleaners. It would be for the actual library closet program. And I'll have to look into how we can spend the budget. And it would have to be voted on.
ReplyDeleteOhhh... hmmm. Yeah, I got nothing. Since we don't use our budget anyway I suppose it could be used for something else since we're not using it. If all the club members agree would that solve the problem? How much is the club budget anyway?
ReplyDeleteJust ate chic fil-a... I have to get a new alignmet, so Im sitting at firestone
ReplyDeleteHi Antwion! Chick fil a sounds great. :-)
DeleteIm working on biblical foundation teachings. I've been invited to guest speak on a zoom platform each Tuesday for the month of October 2020. My next week topic will be "The Woman"
ReplyDeleteThat sounds really great! Tell us more about it, if you will. I'll also send you a WebEx invite if you want to come in as well.
DeleteI'm having trouble getting you into webex. I'll keep trying.
DeleteYeah, what about the woman? Me and my Mom tend to read the bible alot and we couldn't help noticing how women are barely noticed or sometimes treated as disposables. Is it related to that? No?
DeleteIm in public without my headset, but you can send it to my email
DeleteThe teaching will reveal what God intended for the woman... there are verses that are overlooked and habe been misinterpreted and I will be revealing them next Tuesday at noon on Zoom
DeleteThat sounds great! Let us know how you did.
DeleteIt was great talking to you on WebEx. Much easier. :-)
lol I'm not that talkative in person, seeing as though my camera doesn't show I'll just type in the chat.
DeleteI haven't eaten yet, thawing the last of my tilapia and salmon from Aldi's as we speak lol.
ReplyDeleteOk. I just sent you both an invite to get into Webex.
ReplyDeleteThere was a chair in the living room that was adjustable so I used that as a chair and my computer box as a desk.
