Yet, I can't tell the last time I sat down to read another writing other than my own. These days I've mostly been reading manga and webtoons but I don't really count those as books.
Pictures are pictures and to me books are pictures painted with words.
What type of books do you guys normally reach for?
What type of books do you guys hate?
What type of books do you guys normally reach for? This might sound weird, but I'm attracted to books that are set around 1900 and talk about the uber rich and their problems. This would be books about the Kennedy's, Vanderbilt's and Astors. It's like People magazine but set in 1900. I guess it's some twisted thing that I do where I can see that uber rich people have problems and that's weirdly satisfying? I know. But it's better than the true crime stint I went through in the 1980's and 1990's.
ReplyDeleteWhat type of books do you guys hate? Romance.
I am interested in all sorts of books, mostly fantasy- specifically light novel RPG novels. When I was younger in middle school I used to love reading these horror stories... but now that I think about it... when it comes to books I don't mind slice of life stories(stories based in real life and not a fantasy or adventure genre) . I'm so fixed on manga that I even use its genres when I think of books.
ReplyDeleteI hate books with harems or when the protagonist has no sense of self control. I think that makes me rage quit while reading. (I vividly remember reading the House of Night novels and throwing one of the books across the room) But then again, I can stomach "romance" but not if it's... you know "lustful"
What titles have the protagonist with no self control. I'm not sure I've read any like that. My main characters are either stressful yet very smart, like the wives of kings who married for money. Is it romance titles that have that? Oh wait, I did read that one book about the woman on the train. If it's like that, then yes, I was very angry at her and wanted to just scream.
DeleteCharacters that give into temptation, like they are painted as a no nonsense character who has morals but when tempted they give in even if the character is someone they don't like just because. I think what bothered me is the most is that I found the protagonist relatable until she let herself be tempted and I just couldn't relate there as to why she was suddenly dumb enough to fall for it.
DeleteBut yeah, what you may have said, I think you understand the kind of story I'm talking about.
I'm not a fan of romance, unless its romance manga, that I can stomach lol.
I wonder why an author would write a character that falls for things. I get it that it creates suspense, but in the end, your character should save the day, right?
DeleteI guess to show how "powerful" the temptation may have been? Even if at the point the protagonist became a hoe.
